Hi there ๐Ÿ™‚

I proudly announce that as of today, with internal build 166 we have implemented rudimentary Multiplayer! ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Implemented Features:

  • Almost instant loading times for login
  • You can see other players moving around and jumping (animations still to be implemented)
  • Culling of far away players (the distance is set very short atm, but that's because of faster testing)

Planned Features (soon):

  • Removal of logged out users
  • Network replicating traffic (local version already implemented on Test-Map)
  • Network replicating animations

Planned Features (will take a bit longer):

  • Network replicated pedestrians, who react to players
  • Network replicated public transport (trains, busses, cableways)
  • Interactions (trade, gameplay) between players

Known Issues:

  • If someone leaves the game while you are still playing, his character will stay visible

It might sound like something little, but without getting technical, players being able to move freely on the whole map and seeing each others is a big milestone and important groundwork for everything else to come.

Our tech is built from the ground up to be scalable and versatile, so we can run separate servers for different zones, activities etc.

There is a bright future ahead ๐Ÿ˜„
